The Lord Is Near The Brokenhearted

There will be times in our lives when we suffer devastating occurrences. At some point, we all face the harsh reality of parents that age and eventually tie due to natural causes or sickness. Some of us will experience the loss of a child and some of us will even tearfully see the end of a relationship that we once thought had promise, but terminated in a way that caused great grief and pain. Needless to say, but these experiences can leave us heartbroken and if we are not careful they can actually torment us and cause us to withdraw and feel all alone.

As a Christian, we feel the pain and loneliness just like everyone.else, but during these difficult times, we have the Lord who can and will help us through our challenging times. Psalms 34:18 tells us that God is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. God will be with us to help us, comfort us a strengthen us. He is always near us because He lives inside of us and no pain or sorrow can override His presence. If we have a relationship with the Lord, our pain is eased just knowing that He is near us and He cares about us.

When I discover that my children are hurting over something that has happened in their lives, I find yourself reaching out to them and letting them know that I am concerned and available for their support. I Intentionally come close to them. This is what I do as natural father. Can you imagine how much more shall our heavenly Father do for His children? He will let us know that He is indeed near us and He is our help in times of trouble. The Lord will supply the comfort and encouragement that we need to push forward. Then you and I can most assuredly declare that the Lord is nigh unto us irrespective of what happens in our lives. Thank God for always being near us and for being concerned about us.
