Withstanding Attacks From People

July 1 2015

There are times in our lives where we feel the stress of people who are determined to trouble us. This could come from a neighbor, former friend, relative, coworker, supervisor, or fellow church member. Regardless of where the attack originates, it has a way of making us feel pretty miserable. No one wants to feel that people are out to get you for no apparent reason. No matter how hard you try to avoid them or ignore their actions, they seem relentless in their pursuit to make you unhappy.

What makes this even more disturbing at times is when the number of people against you seems to have multiplied. One is bad enough, but when there is a proliferation of these characters that rise up against you, it is pretty hard to comprehend. You ask yourself what have I done to deserve this type of treatment and no one can offer an explanation that satisfies you. We know that Satan assigns demonic forces to disrupt our lives. His desire is to steal our joy and rob us of our peace.

When it really gets bad, we ask ourselves where is God? Is there no help from the Lord? We have to remember that God said in His word that He will never leave us or forsake us. So He is there all along. And we have to remember that if God is for us, no one can be against us. God will break our enemies into pieces and cause us to triumph over them. He will be our shield and the lifter of our heads.

So let the people multiply that trouble us. Their efforts will come to naught. God will protect us and strengthen us all the days of our lives.
