Feeling Out of Sorts

May 1, 2016

Recently my wife and I had the wonderful pleasure of witnessing our son exchange vows with his bride. We are excited about what God has done in his life and what He will do in their lives as a couple.

As the father of the groom, I did not have to do much to prepare for the wedding. Thank God wife and the one who coordinated everything with them and the venues to make sure that their day was very special and unforgettable.

I am a person of habit and discipline. I start my day at the same time and invariably my routine changes minimally from day to day. I always start my day with prayer and worship. This helps me to get focused on the day with the right attitude. And it affords the Holy spirit the opportunity to speak wisdom and knowledge into my life that I need to enjoy a successful day.

Leading up to the wedding, I was fine, but once things got started, my routine was broken. My prayer time was interrupted because of the schedule we had to keep and so for two days,I started to feel out of sorts. I feel the same way when I travel and I am on someone else's schedule. It doesn't mean that I don't pray by himself. I relish the time by myself without distractions with the triune God.

When I returned home from the wedding festivities, I immediately unpacked and went directly into my secret closer to pray. I had to get back on schedule. What a wonderful felling! It helped me to unwind, relax and remove the out of sorts feeling that was trying to over take me. Prayer brings about such a peace in our lives.

Whenever you start to feel out of sorts, spend time with God and see what happens. Start your day with prayer and see how much better results you obtain. There is joy and peace in the presence of God.
