There Is Never a Day That the Sun Does Not Shine

As I peered out of the window this morning, I noticed there was a slight overcast. I could not see any glimpse that the Sun was shining anywhere or even existed. It looked as if we could have a torrential down pour at anytime. However, I know from my travels throughout the continental United States and even in other countries, the sun is shining in other places. I have telephoned home and discovered that the weather conditions were not the same in the state or country I was visiting. For example, it was almost seventy degrees and sunny in Atlanta recently, but at the same time it was twenty three degrees and gloomy in Maryland. What it looks like in one state does not mean that it is the same everywhere else. Further, I have been on airplanes and realized that when we got to an altitude of 35,000 feet, which is above the clouds, I could see that the sun was shining. From the ground you would never have known.

Likewise, with our lives, sometimes it appears that dark ominous clouds form. They seem ready to release storms into our lives. Everywhere we go, they seem to hover over us. And although it appears that the sun is not shining in our lives, we who are in Christ have to believe and trust God that He will protect us and He will never put more on us than we can bear. Every storm whether real or imagined has an expiration. That is, a long as we do not invest in preserving and prolonging it. God told Israel that they would be held captive for seventy years and then they would be set free. We have to look beyond what we see and know that by faith the sun will shine again. God has good thoughts towards us. From our earthly position, it may look dark and bleak, but when we look to the author and finisher of our faith, our perspective changes.

Never focus on the darkness, but on the one who is the light. In Him there are blessings forever more.
