We often see, hear, or read about people who do extraordinary things. We are impressed with their good deeds as well as their accomplishments. They are admired for their courage, fortitude and determination to succeed. We believe that they are in a class all by themselves and we don’t come close to achieving what they achieve. Consequently, we fail to see ourselves as having the ability to do great and wonderful things. And we often limit our potential to excel. What is that based on? It is based on our perception of ourselves in comparison to others.

It is true that we all don’t have the same gifts and talents. For example, we haven’t all been called to be a CEO of an organization. We bless God for those that are gifted with that particular leadership ability. However, I believe that God has placed something unique on the inside of each one of us. And that something is what separates us from others and makes us special and who we are.

Paul had a zeal to persecute the church. Now persecuting the church was not good, but the zeal he possessed was great. God took that same zeal and leveraged it to assist with establishing and building the early church. Many times, God will take our strengths and make them useful for His Kingdom and His glory. We need to become more aware of what God has placed on the inside of us and determine how we can use it to further His kingdom. When we understand our purpose, then we can get on track to achieve great things. And who knows, we may become one of the people who is read about or recognized in some way for our good works.
