Celebrating Him

Our church just concluded the celebration of seven years in existence. God has tremendously blessed us. A ministry that is just seven years old is still considered to be in the infant stages. During that seven year span, we have seen people give their lives to Christ for the very first time and we have seen souls restored. Some people had been out of church for many years, but Good Works was the channel by which they were able to reconnect with the Lord.

There were those who did not come to stay, but God had another plan and they are now faithful members of the church. Then there were those who we thought would stay with us until death brought the separation. Apparently that was not in God’s plan or they are operating out of the will of God. I leave that for God to judge.

Through it all, we have learned to trust God and to lean firmly on Him. He has brought us through some difficult times, but those times made us stronger and wiser. When we were weak, He made us strong. When sorrow tried to overtake our hearts, He gave us joy. The Lord has blessed us with some wonderful experiences and wonderful people who love God as much as we do.

We always want more than what we have, but how often do we stop and count the blessings that God has bestowed upon us? How often do we reflect on His abundant goodness. If we are always in pursuit of the “more”, we’ll never pause to reflect and appreciate what God has given to us or what He has done for us. That can lead us into a downward tailspin because we find ourselves never being completely satisfied. And if we are not careful, we’ll find ourselves blaming God for what we perceive as our emptiness.

We thank God for all the precious memories of the first seven years. If He has done great things for us in this short time, I truly believe the best is yet to come. We honor the Lord for the things that He has done.
