​God Does Not Age

The Bible tells us Moses lived to be 120 years old and his eye never went dim or his strength abated. Caleb lived to be 85 and when he was awarded his land, he said that he was as strong then as he was when he was 40. Notwithstanding the amazing health and strength of both men, ultimately, they grew old and died.

Just as these great men followed the course of nature as humans, we will too. We are not put on this earth to live forever. We will age and die even if we are in good health.

I experienced something recently that made me realize how old I’ve become. I am in excellent health, most days I feel a lot younger than I am. I am proud of what I can accomplish at my age. On average, I still run/walk twenty miles per week; lift weights two to three times a week and do two hundred crunches every day.

Despite these accomplishments, I realize some things with my body are changing. I tried to jump the other day and realized my jumping ability had abandoned me without any notice. At one time, I could touch the basketball rim without any effort; now my jumping ability is limited.

When I study the Word, it tells me that God never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever more. This means His abilities or power never change. Nor does he grow weary, and He does not age as humans do. Psalm 100:5 says His lovingkindness endureth forever and His faithfulness unto all generations. Forever and generations are two words that tell us God will never grow old or die. He was in the beginning and is eternal. He has no expiration or ending.

I take comfort in knowing the God I serve is not a man and is ageless. He possesses the same power today as when He created the heavens and the earth thousands of years ago. Psalm 102:25-27 tells us that things change, but God remains the same.

Praise God for who He is. There is no one like Him. And we are loved by Him beyond our understanding!
