Ready For a Fresh Start
January 1 2021
We just finished one of the worst years in American history. The Corona virus was responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths, job losses, business failures, travel restrictions, social distancing, school shutdowns, church closures, evictions, foreclosures and a host of recreational activities were suspended. We had to make a lot of adjustments in the way we lived and worshipped and it was difficult.
Most of us are ready for a fresh start in 2021. We really want to forget the past and press toward a new day filled with light. Unfortunately, it will be late spring or summer before we see our lives and the country return to pre-2020 conditions. In the meanwhile, we can start planning some of our goals now for what we want to accomplish in the New Year. I was speaking to someone just recently and was told that they had already made vacation plans for next year. I laughed because most people are anxious to get going and leave this year behind and make it a distant memory. However, going into 2021 can’t just be about catching up on all the things we didn’t get a chance to do in 2020. I know this sounds cliché, but as you plan for (2021), make sure the Lord continues to be your top priority. You can’t have a fresh start without including Him. He should be front and center of everything we do. We should start with Him and finish with Him. Seek ye first His kingdom and His righteousness and all things will be added unto you.
God will give us a renewed vigor with a different perspective on life. This fresh perspective will prepare the way for a fresh start because our vision will be different. Let’s get excited about the New Year and all of the blessings the Lord has in store for us. He has never stopped loving us. Let’s get excited about being able to assemble once again as a body of believers in corporate worship. The virtual platforms serve their purpose, but there is nothing like worshipping together face to face in the House of God. We thank God for the fresh start in 2021 and pray for all of the families who lost loved ones to the Corona virus. Let their dry beds be filled with water once again. God bless you!!
