Transformation and Not Information

April 1 2021

We live in an age where information is readily available to us and at no cost. You can Google almost any topic and you will quickly discover that there is no shortage of information available. You can literally spend countless hours reading and digesting what is offered for your perusal. It is quite a warehouse just waiting for information to be picked up.

While the availability of information is in abundance and deemed valuable by its users, it is not considered to be transformational. At least not in the sense of it being life changing. This is where the Bible is different. It is not a book of information but one of transformation. As you read it, your life starts to change right before your very own eyes. The more you read and apply it to your life, the greater the transformation will occur.

When I first started reading the Bible, it was just for information. I wanted to become familiar with the stories I had heard about and become acquainted with Scriptures. Later I realized that when I went beyond just reading and wanted to understand the meaning of the Word of God, genuine transformation took place. My thoughts started to change and so did my way of doing things. My conscious was purged from dead works and I wanted to serve God and His people. My level of integrity increased and keeping my word was an absolute must.

The application of God’s Word will cause transformation to occur in anyone’s life. So when you read the Bible, go beyond just getting information. Pray for transformation.
