The Week After Easter

April 1, 2016

I am sure that many of us who attended church on Easter Sunday heard powerful and meaningful messages surrounding the resurrection of Christ. It was an historical event that will never be forgotten. Many significant events occurred over the three day weekend including Jesus taking all of our sins and being separated from the Father; the elimination of the ceremonial law of sacrifices; the middle wall of the partition being removed so that we can boldly go before His throne of grace and obtain mercy in our time of need; the resurrection of our Lord as He promised and victory over death. This is the basis for the church's witness to the world. Jesus did not die and stay in the grave, but He resurrected and we too one day shell be resurrected with him to meet Him in the sky.

Now that the weekend has ended and the celebration of the resurrection is over, what will we do next? Easter comes every single year and so does the celebration. We can't just continue to go back to things as usual. After Jesus resurrected, He gave the Great Commission for us to go into all of the world and to preach the gospel. So what is our plan to tell others about the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour. We can tell people that we had a great holiday weekend, but why not reach out to the lost and tell them about the risen Saviour. And how He has made it possible for us to have life after death here on earth? His death, burial and resurrection should not be just for us to acknowledge, but for us to tell others about their significance. The huge sacrifice that Jesus made for all of mankind. The love that He has shown us even when we were yet sinners.

As believers we have a responsibility to be witnesses for Christ everywhere we go. We should make up our minds that the Easter weekend is not a weekend that we forget about until next year. However, starting this week, the week after Easter, we should keep the celebration going by sharing the good news of the gospel with someone else. Don't pass up the opportunity this week to share with a friend, coworker, family member, or stranger that their sins and be forgiven through Christ and that they can live with Him forever. What a great blessing!
