What a Day

January 1, 2016

Recently as I was walking back towards the house after retrieving my mail from the mail receptacle and I had a thought, What a Day! I was going over in my mind everything that had taken place during the day. I got started early as I normally do and work got off to an early start as well. I had worked ten straight hours with only biological breaks and my day wasn't done. I was on an hour break before completing another two hours of activities and calling it a day.

As I reflected on the day, the discussions and the decisions that were rendered, I thought about the wisdom, strength, collaboration, and courage that was needed to be an effective participant in the dialogue and decision making. Making major decisions for the health of the business and or the thousands of employees who help make the company successful is not easy. I rely on God's help in all that I do.

I am amazed that I don't ever feel overwhelmed by the gravity of the dialogues or decisions involving our employees, the business itself, or our clients. I am sure one major reason that I remain calm in spite of the issues that arise is because of the way I start my day. As a disciple or learner of Christ, I pattern my life after Jesus. He started His day early in the morning by going into a solitary place and praying. Hence I start my day by going into y home office (my closet) early in the morning and getting before the Lord. I ask Him for help with my daily assignments and for the wisdom I need to make the right decisions on the matters we discuss. I have found that this practice keeps me in perfect peace because my mind is stayed on Him. Daniel knew he faced opposition, but he stayed before God in prayer, trusted God and the Lord protected him.

I would encourage you to make prayer your highest priority in the morning. This is the best way to start your day and you'll find that it will set the atmosphere for the rest of your day and even your life. You'll be able to take on any challenge and not feel exhausted or overwhelmed. It will also help you t keep everything in perspective and set the right priorities for the day.

Allow God to be involved in your day and watch how amazing your day will be!!
