The Walk
December 1 2019
The Bible tells us that God walked with Adam and Eve and had fellowship with them. Can you imagine walking with the Father of all creation and hearing Him talk about the plans for man-kind? I am sure they felt His love and warmth for all He had created and what was coming and things evolved. We can experience a similar fellowship with Him as we spend time in His presence in His Word and in prayer. We too can be able to feel the love and warmth that He has for us.
Several years ago when I knew nothing about the Bible and my kids were small, I would take them for a walk every Thanksgiving. That wasn’t the only time we walked, but this was a special time. We would leave our house as dinner was being prepared and we would walk through the community and I would just talk to them. To be honest with you, I can’t remember what we talked about, but the quality time we spent together in those 30-60 minutes is immortalized in our memories. They looked forward to that time together and I did too even more than I let on. They thought it was so special. Of course as time passed, we abandoned our tradition. Last year, I was asked for that walk again and it meant a lot. We walked but this time; it included a new generation, my granddaughter. I don’t know if we will walk this year, but if they want to, I would be ready and excited.
I believe God our Father is ready to walk with us whenever we take the time. He has a commitment to us that never weakens. I am thankful for Him and the family that He has blessed me with. Thank you Father for walking with us! Our journey through life is much better with you as you impart your wisdom and counsel. Thank you for the lamp unto our feet and the light for our path. You are an incredible Father!
