God is Good

As a young man growing up, I never thought much about life. There was no reason to have any concerns because I was the responsibility of my parents. As I started to age, life became more serious and I had to assume more responsibility for my future. I had my parents for support and counsel, but their involvement would start to decrease.

As I transitioned from high school to college, I started to realize how good my parents had been to me. They took great care of me by providing for my basic needs, creating a loving family environment and by encouraging me to live on purpose. Now I was on my own and had to make the best of the opportunity afforded me. And although I was in Iowa and my family was in Georgia, I still felt their love and concern for me. I knew they wanted the best for me.

That was many years ago. My parents are deceased and I now have my own family. God has been good to me. I stand in awe of His goodness and it was His goodness that led me to repentance. God did not just become good. He has always been good because that is who He is. He has opened doors that I never thought would be open. He has shown me favor, blessed me with great health, a sound mind, a wonderful family, a great church family and great friends.

The whole earth is filled with His goodness. David declared “Oh taste and see that the Lord is good”. I have tasted and I know that He is good. In spite of what life serves up, it does not take away from who He is. Thank you Lord for your abundant goodness.
